Contemporary Oushak Carpet
Beautiful Oushak carpet hand woven in Iran with lustrous wool and vegetable-dyed colours.
Antique Oushak carpets of West Anatolia have had a rich history since the beginning of the 16th Century.
During the 19th Century, the Oushak region became an important centre of furnishing carpets tailored specifically for the Western market. This handsome Oushak carpet has an off-white/ivory field which provides a great contrast to a harmonious variety of vegetable-dyed colours.
It is framed by a wide, grey border. These decorative pieces are generally found in historic homes in Europe and the UK and are highly sought after for their large-scale drawings, decorative appeal and use of softer colour palettes.
