This contemporary Ziegler carpet is a great example of this type of weaving, with fresh colours and balanced scale.
The subtle grey field provides a great contrast to the creative drawing and vegetable-dyed colours. It is framed by a wide border. A particularly attractive feature is the uniformity of the colours of the field and main border rather than traditional contrasting colours.
A contemporary interpretation of top-end 19th Century examples, finely handwoven with naturally dyed colours and fine-spun wool. An elegant and high-quality Ziegler Sultanabad carpet, finely hand woven in Iran (where 19th-century examples were made).
