Early 18th Century English Elm and Oak Refectory Table
Early 18th Century English Elm and Oak Refectory Table with a Wonderful Elm Top.
The fabulous two-plank overhanging elm top is supported on an oak base, having excellent colour and patination throughout. The table has four square-sectioned and slightly chamfered legs joined by a low stretcher for maximum strength. It has shaped brackets where the legs join the frieze.
The table is made using pegged construction as would be expected in a piece of this age. This table is of long and relatively narrow proportions. It is a fine and particularly attractive piece of English country furniture.
