Early 19th Century Colonial Campaign Chest
A rare early 19th Century Anglo Indian campaign chest of unusually small proportions.
The campaign chest breaks down into two small sections, the top section has a secretaire drawer with fitted compartments and drawers. Made from either padouk or teak wood, standing on a very slender bracket foot.
On each side are four metal carrying handles and on the front are eight brass skeletal campaign handles.
Considering this is a real campaign chest from the early part of the 19th Century and has obviously seen some action, it is in considerably good order. With one damaged brass skeletal handle and a few historical repairs and missing keys, in 'as found' condition. With a wonderful colour and patina.
Circa 1815.
