19th Century Mahogany Wreath-Carved Canterbury
Early 19th Century mahogany canterbury.
This is an exceptional piece, with an elaborately carved laurel wreath to the front and cross-shaped dividers. It rests on slender turned legs which terminate on original brass castors. The drawer retains its original turned wooden handles. Beautiful rich patina.
The canterbury first emerged in the late Georgian period and its divided compartments were designed to hold sheet music. Today, these neat storage pieces are perfect for storing magazines or other documents. Great for a living area or home office!
