Early 20th Century Copper and Silver Barrel Cocktail Shaker and Stand
A fantastic and incredibly rare American Prohibition Era hammered copper and silver band giant cocktail shaker with original cradle, of extra large proportions.
Circa 1920-30s.
One end of the barrel unscrews to reveal the large chamber which has a silver strainer across half of the top for easy pouring.
This unusual piece of barware was crafted when Prohibition rules came in which made it illegal to buy, sell or drink alcohol (from 1920-1933), which resulted in an explosion of ‘home use’ cocktail making.
If a cocktail shaker didn’t look like a cocktail shaker, it was ‘an ornament, Officer’.
In good original condition, this enormous barrel is 32cm long, 14cm diameter and 21cm high in its cradle.
