Early 20th Century Heriz Carpet

  • H: 340 cm (133 7/8")
  • W: 262 cm (103 1/8")

Striking early 20th Century Heriz carpet with a rare ivory field and spontaneous drawing.

Antique Heriz carpets from northwest Persia are in a class of their own. Prized for their geometric designs, fine durable construction and creative vegetable-dyed colours, they make ideal long-lasting rugs.

They have always stood out for their aesthetically appealing designs.

The tribal characteristics of Heriz carpets give them the ability to blend in both contemporary and classic spaces.

This is a departure from the traditional central medallion motif, usually found in earlier examples from the mid-19th Century. The ivory central colour field provides a great backdrop to the array of colour combinations including various greens, light blue and terracotta, framed by a wide, blue-grey, border and inner borders.

The variety of colours is naturally dyed and has aged very nicely.

This antique Heriz carpet is in very good practical condition for everyday use, still retaining its original fringes and inner borders on both sides.

A one-of-a-kind example that will blend well in a stylish setting.
