Early 20th Century Lead and Glass Terrarium

The modern terrarium was discovered by accident in 1829, by Dr. Nathaniel Ward. These enclosures have been used ever since to maintain constant humidity for plant growth.
This example has lovely spacious proportions and particularly decorative geometric lead strapwork. It has a domed top with an opening hinged window to one side.
This terrarium offers a great opportunity to display succulents, cacti, and other plants, and is wonderfully decorative in its own right.
