Early Feraghan Carpet

Early Feraghan carpets were popular during the 19th century, woven in the same region as the equally popular and much sought-after Ziegler Mahal carpets. These carpets are often seen in grand houses in Europe and the UK, known for their quiet formality, soft wool and harmonious colours. Feraghan carpets are especially unique in that they balance both tribal and formal elements of rug design beautifully.
An exquisite early Feraghan with high-quality wool, with a stunning all-over design where each motif is creatively repeated in a variety of rich vegetable-dyed colours, including sky-blue, green, ochre, and ivory. These motifs are wonderfully complemented by the deep blue field ground, and framed nicely by a creatively woven red border.
This Feraghan carpet is in very good to excellent practical condition.
A timeless piece with tribal charm to compliment a wide variety of interiors.
