Arch de Triomphe Bird Cage Cabinet by Eric Lansdown
Beautiful 'Arch de Triomphe' bird cage display cabinet. Signed Eric Lansdown, San Francisco, 1991.
This Regency-style cabinet is painted black, with gilded decoration and wirework to give the appearance of a bird cage.
The whole is raised up on elegant square tapering legs, as is typical of Lansdown's style.
This impressive design is wonderfully detailed and intricate.
Eric Lansdown is the third generation of a family of San Francisco artists.
Lansdown is famous for his miniature buildings and he specialises in dolls houses and bird cages which are inspired by the architecture and design styles of centuries gone by.
Each piece goes through a pain-staking antiquing process, a skill Lansdown learnt from his mother who restored antiques.
This is a fascinating piece that is sure to provide a talking point in any interior.
