Fine Set of 9 Exotic Birds

Stunning set of hand coloured lithographs by C. Hullmandel, from the 1955 edition of Tropical Birds by J Gould.

Tropical Birds was published in London by Ariel Press. John Gould was a 19th Century ornithologist and bird artist. In the book, Gould accompanied each illustrated plate with a description of the differend birds. 

The plates were later adapted to lithographs by prominent lithographer and writer C. Hullamendel (1789-1850). 

These lithographs are highly decorative, presented in bespoke  handmade gilt bamboo frames. TruVu glass protects the prints.
