Very elegant French 19th Century giltwood armchair.
This chair has smart and refined form, which is elevated by the extensively carved and gilded frame.
The gently scrolling back is crested with elaborate foliate carving. The rest of the frame with egg-and-dart moulding and acanthus details throughout.
Scrolling armrests are supported on swept uprights with very pretty acanthus carvings.
The column reeded and tapering legs have rosettes to the square section uprights and are topped with decorative finials.
This chair has been reupholstered in crisp white vintage linen, with embroidered initials to the backrest.
A beautiful feature chair that would be a brilliant addition to contemporary and period interiors alike.
