Georgian 18th Century Mahogany Pembroke Table

  • H: 71.5 cm (28 1/8")
  • W: 81 cm (31 7/8")
  • D: 50 cm (19 11/16")

Stunning period Georgian mahogany pembroke table.

This piece dates to the late 18th Century, and demonstrates the Hepplewhite style which relied on contrasting woods for decoration and prioritised straight-lined elegance.

Three different cross-bounded borders demonstrate the expert craftsmanship that has gone into this piece.

Broadly cross-bounded mahogany top, with stunning fine figuring and patina. The mahogany is interspersed with satinwood and decorative ebony string inlay.

Standing on square section tapering legs which terminate on original brass castors.

The pembroke table is a quintessential piece of English furniture history; although it arose in the 17th Century, the model flourished in Georgian England.

The drop leaf function allows it to be stored against the wall easily, with bracket supports below.

Georgian furniture was designed for function and entertaining, and occasional tables such as this one are the defining legacy of the period.
