Georgian Mahogany Open Armchair

  • H: 94 cm (38")
  • W: 63 cm (24 13/16")
  • D: 57 cm (22 7/16")

English late 18th Century Georgian provincial mahogany open armchair.

This wonderful chair is a faithful interpretation of the Chippendale manner, with its richly carved back splat featuring interlacing ribbon motifs.

This carver chair demonstrates a great deal of care and attention in its craft. Lovely carved floral motifs accentuate the back splat, and the armrests and uprights demonstrate the Rococo influence with their elegant curves.

Chippendale style was highly desirable, and it was made accessible through the publication of his designs.

Works such as The Genteman and Cabinet-Maker's Dictionary were widely available, and this lead to provincial interpretations of these iconic designs.

This chair is supported on a stretchered base and square section chamfered legs.

This classic and timeless piece of Georgian furniture will make an excellent addition to any home.
