Giant Omersa Leather Rhino Footstool BONHAMS
Giant Omersa leather rhino footstool. British, Circa 1960.
This is the extra large version of the leather rhino by Omersa, called super king. These big rhinos were made on a limited basis only.
The first Omersa footstool was a pig, made in the 1920s from leather leftover from the production of hand luggage. This pig was sold through Liberty’s in London and has been ever since.
From the 1960s different animals were produced. This included the very popular rhino, which now forms the logo of the Omersa production company.
This rhino is full of character and would be a unique and striking feature in any interior.
