  • H: 218 cm (85 13/16")
  • W: 122 cm (49")
  • D: 40.5 cm (15 15/16")

Fantastic pair of Gordon Russell black walnut waterfall bookcases with ebony handles.

Gordon Russell (1892-1980), was an English designer, craftsman and educationalist.

Schooled in the Arts and Crafts tradition of the Cotswolds, he believed that good design had a profound impact on people's lives. Russell stressed the importance of valuing craftsmanship in mass production.

This pair of bookcases were a unique commission for a bespoke home in Edgbaston, in 1937. They have come from the family of the original owner of the house.

They embody beautiful, simple materials coupled with expert cabinet-making.

The bookcases are unassuming yet striking, with underplayed design and great proportions.

They represent a unique opportunity to own a timeless piece, with strong provenance.
