Julian Otto Trevelyan (1910-1988) Mediterranean Feast - oil on canvas.
One of the foremost post war artists of the Modern British movement, trained in Paris at the Atelier Dix-Sept, having abandoned his degree at Cambridge to pursue his passion as an artist. Settled famously at Durham Wharf in Hammersmith where he lived with his wife fellow artist Mary Fedden. Taught at both Chelsea School of Art at the Royal Academy where as Head of Etching he taught both David Hockney & Norman Ackroyd.
This wonderfully evocative painting with its touch of surrealism is typical of his work and distinctive style.
