Large 18th Century French Important Regence Giltwood Mirror

A stunning and important 18th Century French carved giltwood mirror. 

The softly bevelled rectangular mercury plate with further mirrored borders. The shaped pediment centred with an exquisitely carved bearded male mask with profusely carved scrolled foliate shoulders. Flanked by flowered baskets on conforming pierced capitols with shells, terminating in bold scrolling, floral and foliate corner pieces, centred with the mask of a satyr. 

Two small cracks to the bottom left corner. Gilding refreshed in places. Wooden supports replaced to the back of the mirror. 

An impressive and imposing 18th Century mirror of exceptional quality.
