Large and imposing French gilt gesso mirror, circa 1840.

This mirror boasts a wonderfully carved frame that remains in amazing condition, demonstrating the quality of the original gilding. Hints of red bole show through the gilding which gives this mirror a great authentic feel.

There is some rubbing as well as small losses to the frame, as expected for a piece of this age. With a lightly foxed mirror plate.

This decorative mirror can be hung portrait or landscape.
