Large Faux Marble and Bamboo Centre Table

  • H: 73 cm (28 3/4")
  • W: 171 cm (67 5/16")

Large 20th Century faux marble and bamboo centre or dining table.

This fabulous table has been expertly painted and moulded to resemble marble and bamboo. The top displays a satisfying concentric design surrounded by a faux bamboo border.

The table is supported by four bamboo pillars which terminate in a pedestal base.

Europe's first love affair with bamboo was during the Regency, but it was revived time and time again. To create more durable furniture and keep up with demand, woods such as birds-eye maple and pine were shaped to resemble bamboo stalks and faux bamboo furniture was all the rage.

In the 20th Century its revival was driven by France and Italy for the most part, with designers such as Jacques Adnet creating wonderful faux bamboo pieces.

To create more durable furniture and keep up with demand, woods such as birds-eye maple and pine were shaped to resemble bamboo stalks and faux bamboo furniture was all the rage.

This table wonderfully emulates both marble and bamboo, with an overall chic lightness. It would make a wonderful centre table or dining table and is sure to bring memories of travel and pleasure into your home.
