Large Original Poster Claudine in Paris
A large framed vintage French poster of Claudine, the main character of a series of novels by the author Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette about a young girl who leaves her small town for a new life in Paris.
Here we see Claudine, staring us down with a telling smirk. This rare example dates to c. 1902. The artist is L. Lucien Faure.
Backed on linen and framed in simple black wooden frame behind plexiglas. A Little History: The author of the Claudine series was advertised as ‘Willy’, a pen name for author Henry Gaulthier-Villars. His wife, Colette, was the actual author of the series and years later she would take his estate to court to gain the publishing rights to the series.
