Large Painted Wooden Balustrade Lamp

Lovely cream and blue balustrade table lamp dating to the 20th Century.

Balustrades are small columns that typically line a staircase or balcony.  The term was created by 17th Century Italian's because of their 'bulbous' form which is pronounced "Balaustra" in Italian.  

This elegantly composed wooden lamp has a striking marbled effect throughout.

It would have originally functioned as a balustrade within a French building. This lamp will add a touch of opulence and glamour to wherever it is placed.
