18th Century superb example, Louis XVI / Directoire period carved oak Normandy Cauchois marriage armoire from the eastern Pays de Caux region of Normandy.
Beautifully hand carved in solid quartered oak with Louis XVI classical detail, incorporating flowers and birds, symbols of love and marriage.
Scrubbed back and bleached to give a weathered driftwood quality.
Original brass details and working lock.
Fitted inside with three shelves making a useful storage space.
