20th Century Antique Veramin Carpet
20th Century antique Veramin carpets are widely recognized as among the most exceptional Persian workshop weavings, best known for their remarkable quality, fine crisp drawings and wide variety of rich vegetable-dyed colours.
Early Veramin pieces would have been woven by the Shahsavan tribe, who settled in the city of Veramin after migrating from Northwest Persia, bringing with them the characteristic designs that set these carpets apart from those from the neighbouring regions.
This early Veramin carpet has a rare muted ocean blue field that complements the ochre tones in its large-scale drawing, framed by a wide terracotta border.
The charming pomegranate design is derived from earlier rugs of the 18th century from Azerbaijan and symbolises prosperity, fertility and longevity.
Despite its age-related wear, this piece is in good condition for everyday us
A timeless example to complement a wide variety of settings.
