Set of French 19th Century Books
Set of 14 French 19th century green books by Restif de la Bretonne, printed in Paris 1883.
Restif de la Bretonne, real name Nicolas-Edme Rétif, was a prolific French novelist. De la Bretonne had a hugely versatile oeuvre, writing around two hundred works on a range of subjects.
He often wrote detailed and sordid accounts about French life and society at the time, leading him to be called 'the Rousseau of the gutter' by some.
These fourteen books are part of Restif de la Bretonne's monumental autiobiography, 'Monsiuer Nicolas.'
