Signed Oil On Canvas By Andre le Trapezienne
French 20th Century oil on canvas of the interior of a church signed by the artist André Salomon, known as Le Tropézien.
A wonderful rendition of the stained glass and evocative atmosphere of the interior with churchgoers.
Little is known of Salomon's life. Originally from the Var, in the South of France, he spent a large part of his life in Saint-Tropez. A self-taught painter, he is known for his knife work with thick oil paint applied to the canvas. He often painted seascapes, spending his time in the port of Saint Tropez where he would exchange his paintings for food or a little money.
In unrestored condition.
