Mid 18th Century French Oak Armoire
A Fine Mid 18th Century French Provincial Oak Armoire or Cupboard of Substantial Quality. This fine armoire was made around the middle of the 18th century in France and incorporates rococo features such as the finely panelled front and, particularly the beautiful handles and escutcheons which are original, whilst also anticipating the straighter lines of the Louis XVI period and neoclassicism. The multiple mouldings used on the complex panelled doors are testament to the skill of the maker and the use of panelled sides as well is a further sign of quality. Standing on flattened bun feet. The interior of the armoire consists of a series of adjustable shelves, with two small drawers incorporated in the frieze, also decorated with multiple different mouldings. Having acquired a lovely surface and colour and is a very decorative piece of case furniture with plenty of storage space inside.
