19th Century gueridon/ bouillotte table in the Louis XVI style.
This fine-quality piece has two frieze drawers and pretty marquetry decoration.
Supported on square tapering legs with brass sabots.
Bouillotte tables take their name from the popular gambling card game, which was based on the similar brelan game.
Bouillotte is said to have led to the development of poker. The tables were always circular in form, with pierced glass galleries, and marble tops were also common.
