Louis XVI Style Bureau Plat
An early 20th Century French bureau plat in Louis XVI style.
This bureau plat would make a stunning finishing touch to a drawing room or living room.
The bureau plat originated as a writing table, but more widely it was a key piece of gentleman's furniture for dealing with affairs.
The three drawers across the bottom were to hold writing implements and the leather top was designed to accommodate quills and fountain pens. The top on this bureau plat is brass bound which gives it more impact.
The neoclassical style favoured by Louis XVI is evident in this piece, with its geometric decoration and square tapering legs. Ending on well cast brass mounts.
The straight-lined elegance of this piece makes it well-suited to modern interiors and is the perfect statement piece.
