Excellent Mid 19th Century French Bureau Plat or Writing Table with Old Rexine Leather Top. 


This splendid piece, made in the Louis XVI style, is veneered throughout in highly figured burr walnut of beautiful mellow colour, with crossbanded detailing to the drawer fronts. It stands on beautifully tapered square sectioned legs with ormolu toes and has fine ormolu escutcheons to each drawer with fine floral detailing. 


The drawers themselves are fitted and divided with pen trays and other organiser sections. The top and two retractable slides are lined with Rexine-type leather inserts with tooled edges.
