Mid Century Dish in the Form of a Oyster
A large dish in the form of a oyster / clam shell dating from the 60s and created by Dominique Guillot in Vallauris, France.
Made of ceramic and painted by hand in shades of grey, brown, and a very light blue. Signed underneath "Guillot".
This tableware design has become very rare and sought after, it's a real piece of art. Originally, it was created to serve oysters or a wonderful fruit de mer seafood platter. Dominique Guillot was active in the 20th century in Vallauris, France, the town in the French Riviera made famous by its pottery industry and the presence of world-renowned artist and resident, Pablo Picasso from 1948 into the 1950s.
