A monumental 19th Century Martaban brown and mustard glazed stoneware Chinese dragon jardiniere or water jar. From the latter half of the 19th Century, in immaculate condition. 


Martaban jars were used to store food or water in the household and also used to store export items. This wide base gently tapered dragon pot is decorated with raised celestial dragons in pursuit of the flaming pearl of wisdom, phoenix and mythical creatures. Unpierced base. 


Can be used as an impressive planter indoors or outdoors.
