North Italian 18th Century Silvered Mirror
Beautifully carved large silvered mirror.
This mirror is in exceptional condition and was originally from Piedmont, circa 1790.
The later divided mercury plates are surrounded by a mirrored border that is edged with carved beads. The foliate tendrils weave their way through the frame.
Features stylised 'Greek Key' corners and centres that have trailing swags and flowing leaves falling from them.
The crest is centred by a classical urn overflowing with more foliate carving and flower heads, terminating in a pair of flaming torches.
A wonderfully dry untouched back showing the heads of 18th Century hand-cut nails, lap joints and saw marks.
