Pair of 18th Century Italian Cherrywood Consoles
Pair of 18th Century Italian cherrywood side or console tables.
These elegant tables were made towards the end of the 18th Century in Italy and their plain rectangular forms with tapering square sectioned legs are ornamented with ormolu mounts above each leg. Also on the side friezes, and larger central mounts incorporating stylised anthemion and a floral paterae. The tables retain their original alabaster tops which are of exceptional quality and figure. Tops of this quality would have been highly prized and the maker of these tables took care to create table frames which enhanced the tops with nice ebonised detailed mouldings.
A beautiful pair of tables.
