Pair of 18th Century Italian Giltwood Console Tables
Fine pair of 18th Century Italian giltwood console or side tables.
Of Neo-Classical style, these lovely tables date to the late 18th century. The bases are rectangular with tapering square sectioned legs with leaf carved detailing near the bases and capitals and toupie feet. The frieze of the table has swags of harebells, round paterae and gadrooned detailing and this decorative scheme is also on the sides of the tables. The table tops are of fossil marble with inlaid Sienna marble banding.
These tables are perfect examples of the elegant designs produced in Italy in the Neo-Classical period.
