Pair of 19th Century French Painted Armchairs
Pair of 19th Century French White and Blue Painted Armchairs.
These chairs have very interesting, outscrolling-shaped backs which, in combination with the bowfronted seat rails, create chairs with a very distinctive and unusual silhouette. The chairs retain their original blue and white paintwork that has aged beautifully.
The arms, have upholstered pads on them, as is common on French chairs of this sort, supported on baluster form columns and blocks and with carved paterae on the seat blocks below.
The turned front legs, also baluster-like form, contrast with the plain, raking back legs.
