Pair of 19th Century Italian Painted Armchairs
Decorative pair of 19th Century Italian Painted Armchairs.
These chairs made in the Louis XVI manner, having rectangular backs with a subtle concave shaping contrasting beautifully with the bowed front seat rails. The terminals of the arms are outscrolling with carved foliate details, also echoed on the base of the arm supports, back of the chair and the front and side rails. The legs are square sectioned and fluted and terminate in spade feet.
The chairs retain much of their original paintwork in attractively distressed condition. An interesting and unusual example of Italian painted furniture of this period. Ready to be upholstered.
