Pair of Bleached Walnut Demi Lune Tables
A pair of 1920s English bleached walnut demi lune tables with replacement leather tops.
Demi lune, or 'half moon,' tables originated in france, particularly popular with Louis XVI and Neoclassical designs. They were often made from mahogany, satinwood or walnut.
The fresh lightness of the bleached wood is an attractive contrast to the black leather top, with has a gilded decorative border.
Each demi lune has five vertical reeded legs, joined by diagonal horizonal reeded stretchers at the front and straight ones at the back.
The geometric, symmetrical style of these tables reflect Art Deco style during this period.
This pair can be arranged to form a circular table, with hexagonal stretcher formation.
