Pair of Chairs by Pier Luigi Colli

Pair of side chairs by Pier Luigi Colli.

This pair of chairs demonstrate Colli's mastery of a range of materials. They are in gilded wrought iron, with very high backs.

The backs are decorated with hammered scrollwork, and the seats have been reupholstered in grey velvet.

The influence of Parisian and Art Deco design is evident in this unique pair of chairs, with their simultaneously graceful and glamorous proportions and decorative elements.

Pier Luigi Colli (1895-65) studied at the Paris École des Arts Décoratifs, before returning to Italy to lead the family furniture business.

Colli furniture and home furnishings were renowned since their conception in 1850. They worked in collaboration with prominent architects like Gio Ponti, Giovanni Gariboldi, and Carlo Mollino.

When Pier Luigi passed away in 1968, the company was run successfully by his daughter Claudia. The business closed in the 1980s, and Pier Luigi pieces are highly coveted today.

This pair would make a fantastic statement in any interior.
