French 18th Century siamoise (cotton/linen) pair of pelmets.
With scalloped edges blockprinted in a design called 'La Cornue Fleurie'.
A lovely pattern of large-scale flowers alternating with stripes of scrolling ribbons and scattered flowers. This piece is in a strong and saturated madder red with touches of pale saffron yellow.
Manufacturer 'Petitpierre Freres', Nantes. Circa 1780.
