Pair of Late 18th Century Directoire Bleached Oak Commodes
SKU
CC2328393
Matched pair of late 18th Century Directoire period commodes.
These commodes are both from Liege region, Belgium and almost certainly from the same town if not the same workshop. The carved details are so similar it looks to be by the same hand.
Quite often the local carver would work at more than one cabinet makers in a region and just do the carved details on each piece.
Both in solid bleached oak and have four drawers, with brass Louis XVI fittings.
Circa 1780.
