Pair of Painted Demi Lune Cabinets by Wright & Mansfield

  • H: 95 cm (37 3/8")
  • W: 116 cm (45 11/16")
  • D: 54 cm (21 1/4")

Exceptional pair of 19th Century superior quality demi lune side cabinets. This beautiful pair are firmly attributed to Wright & Mansfield of Bond Street, London.

The tops feature simulated inlaid fanned quadrants to the centre and wide borders of brightly painted flowers.

Each semi-elliptical front features oval panels depicting classical scenes of maidens, in the style of Angelica Kauffman.

Lighter bands with trailing bell-flowers are repeated down the vertical dividers to the panels. These cabinets are supported on square tapering legs with spade feet.

These very attractive cabinets have a lovely green background, simulated to resemble shagreen.

Wright & Mansfield were prolific 19th Century cabinet-makers and upholsterers, based on Great Portland Street and Oxford Street in London.

They won various accolades for their work, including the only gold medal for art furniture to be awarded to a British firm at the 1867 Paris Exhibition.
