Regency Side Cabinet by George Bullock
Fine quality Regency mahogany and ebony side cabinet, by George Bullock circa 1820.
Featuring its original top of rare red lumachella marble. Below is a deeply carved foliate frieze with a concealed drawer and gadrooned roundels.
The pilasters with repeating foliate ebony inlay, typical of Bullock's designs, and a central door with a flame mahogany panel. The sides also featuring ebony inlay in the form of a band.
All raised on a plinth base with unusual concealed drawer. Wonderful deep colour and patina throughout.
George Bullock is celebrated as one of the most innovative cabinet-makers of the Regency period. He had a very individualistic approach to furniture design that set his work apart from his contemporaries.
