Very handsome Regency mahogany sideboard/serving table, in the neoclassical taste, by 'Wilkinson - London.' English, circa 1820.
This stunning sideboard has excellent colour and patina, with bow fronted ends.
The piece is raised on stylish pedestals, with exceptional figured mahogany bow fronted doors which are adorned with ebony stringing and finely reeded pilasters.
The base of the pedestals feature reeded moulding and the whole is raised on unusual protruding lion paw feet with classical scrolls. Scroll shaped bracket feet to the rear.
The interior of the pedestals offer useful storage, with adjustable shelves and a lead lined partitioned cellarette drawer with a good brass handle.
The right hand drawer is stamped 'WILKINSON LUDGATE HILL 12951.'
William Wilkinson was a renowned cabinet-maker, producing fashionable designs during the Regency period.
Wilkinson operated from 1807, based at Ludgate Hill. From around 1825, he started to trade with his two sons. From this point on, Wilkinson pieces were stamped 'Wilkinson & Sons.'
This sideboard is in excellent condition and would blend stylishly into a range of interior settings.
