A wonderful, large, Regency period, scagliola statuary pedestal, simulating Nero Portoro marble.
Scagliola is a technique for producing stucco columns, sculptures and other architectural elements that resemble marble and semi-precious stones, from Selenite, glue and natural pigments, first used in 17th century Tuscany. English circa 1820.
