Regency Mahogany Wardrobe

  • H: 174 cm (68 1/2")
  • W: 245 cm (96 7/16")
  • D: 56 cm (22 1/16")

Very stylish mahogany four door wardrobe, dating from the late Regency period.

This is a wonderfully decorative piece, and highly functional for modern day use.

The lower, centre section has arched panelled doors which enclose a set of sliding trays. Flanked by rounded pilasters with stepped collars to top and bottom.

The higher end sections also feature arched panelled doors which are fitted for hanging and flanked by repeating pilasters.

The whole of this majestic piece is raised on a mahogany plinth base, with protruding chamfered blocks.

The detailed craftsmanship is consistent right through to the painted cast iron feet, in the form of hairy lion paws.

This wardrobe is very much in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster, and features finely turned rosewood knobs.

Mahogany was the dominant wood in Regency cabinet-making, and it was a period of newfound appreciation for surface and patina. This wardrobe celebrates the boldly striped figuring of the exotic timber.

This piece is of excellent quality and would make a fantastic statement in a bedroom.
