Set of Eight Art Nouveau Ruffle Rim Bowls by John Walsh Walsh
A superb set of eight English Art Nouveau ripple rim glass bowls by John Walsh Walsh.
Originally designed as finger bowls, these pretty hand blown glass bowls are perfect for pudding or sauces.
Each has a hand polished pontil to the base by the artisan who made them.
Circa 1900.
Founded in 1850, the John Walsh Walsh brand was renowned for the fine quality of their crystal glass. The founder told the story of his unusual name, saying that at his Christening, the sponsors were so nervous that when asked the Christian name of the infant, they blurted out ‘John Walsh’. Thereby ensuring that his name was thus John Walsh Walsh…a fun story sadly not confirmed by the church records.
