Set of Eight Eisenberg Horses
Set of eight horse and rider plates from Baron von Eisenberg's L’Art de Monter a Cheval, 1747 edition.
Eisenberg was a German horseman and artist. L'Art de Monter a Cheval was based on the Spanish riding school.
Plates such as these eight, depicting a horse and rider demonstrating different riding techniques, formed the bulk of the work.
The book also included a few plates which depicted riding equipment. Every plate was accompanied by description, so that the work formed a riding manual of sorts.
This work on horsemanship was based on the Spanish riding school.
Baron von Eisenberg served as stable master to King George II, amongst other prestigious roles, and dedicated this work to King George.
