Set of Four 18th Century Johann Weinmann Anemone Prints
Set of four original 18th Century hand coloured botanical prints of anemones by Johann Weinmann.
Presented in bespoke silvered frames with hessian mounts and Ar70 art glass for optimal clarity.
Weinmann's work is beautifully recorded and includes wonderful displays of 18th Century flowers, fruits, and vegetables. The methods behind the work were pioneering as they used color-printed engraved plates. His publications made successful use of the mezzotint process, retouched in transparent or opaque watercolour.
Weinmann, who was Director of the oldest pharmacy in Regensburg, financed the work and commissioned various artists to contribute - including the now renowned Georg Ehret.
These highly decorative engravings reflect a rich history of botanical study and will look wonderful in any interior.
