Set of Four Hans Brattrud Scandia Chairs

Set of four Hans Brattrud Junior Scandia teak chairs with chrome legs.

Hans Brattrud (1933-2017), was a Norweigan furninture designer. He first invented the widely imitated Scandia chair for a class project in 1957, whilst studying at the National College of Art and Design in Oslo.

These chairs are a stalwart of Nordic design, featuring laminated wood on top of a metal frame, for a three-dimensional effect.

Comfort was a priority for Brattrud, and the chairs are designed so that the wooden slats naturally bend to support your back.

The Scandia chairs were also designed to be stackable. The design won a gold medal at the International Arts and Crafts Fair in Munich in 1967.

This set would exude Mid-Century style around a dining table.
